Mangaluru, Mar 5: Former president of the Somanatheshwara temple managing committee, Vishwanath Gatti, has demanded an immediate apology from MUDA (Mangalore Urban Development Authority) President Sadashiv Ullal for his allegations against the Gatti community in connection with the administration of the Someshwar temple. Speaking at a press conference held at Thokkottu Press Club, Gatti urged Ullal to clarify the historical facts about the temple's administration during that period.

The controversy surrounding the administration of the Somanatheshwara temple has led to statements by members of the Gatti community, alleging financial losses in the temple. Vishwanath Gatti clarified that the temple faced financial challenges due to the improper actions of some individuals, not the community as a whole. He expressed concern over the negative impact of such allegations on the entire Gatti community.

Highlighting the historical significance of the place, Gatti mentioned its governance from the era of kings, including Rani Abbakka, and the community's active involvement in temple festivities from 1930 to 1988. He emphasized the community's dedication to temple rituals, citing their contributions during renovation projects and enthusiastic participation in fundraising during temple fairs.

Gatti community members Harischandra Gatti, Yadava Gatti, Pilar Somanath Seva Samithi President Jayarama Gatti Pilar, former president of Gatti Seva Samaja Pavitra Kumar Gatti, and Mohan Gatti Kumpala were present at the press conference. The demand for an apology stems from the perceived harm caused by Ullal's statements against the Gatti community, and Vishwanath Gatti urged for a resolution through clarification and understanding of historical facts.
