Byndoor: Indefinite strike for DC Manna land by Dalit leaders called off

Byndoor, Mar 1: Dalit leaders, who were holding protest for DC Manna land for the past four days, informed that the strike is called off on the evening of Thursday.

Deputy commissioner (DC) Dr Vidyakumari and superintendent of police (SP) Arun Kumar visited the striking Dalit organization leaders on Thursday and held discussion with them. It is said that the DC has assured to fulfil the demands of the striking leaders.

Dalit leaders said, “We are assured of resolving our issues within a month by the DC. If our demands are not met, we will hold protest in front of the DC office after taking procession from Shiroor till the DC office by beating Tamate drums.”

Dalit leaders Vakeela, Manjunatha Giliyar, Raghavendra Shiroor, Ramesh Shiroor, Madhava, Subramanya Bijoor and others were present.
