Bengaluru, Feb 29: Senior Congress leader and former minister H M Revanna has been appointed as Chairman of the Congress Government’s State-level Committee on implementation of the five flagship Guarantees with Cabinet rank and perks.

Former minister S R Patil, Congress leaders Sooraj Hegde, Mehroz Khan and Pushpa Amarnath have been appointed as its vice-presidents with minister of State rank and perks.

In addition, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has approved the second list of appointments of party workers and leaders to head State-level Boards and Corporations and necessary government orders on their appointments have already been issued.

The appointments are for a period of two years, the government order said.

The second list includes the appointment of Sadashiva Ullal as the Chairman of the Mangaluru Development Authority and Sadhu Kokila as the Karnataka Film Academy.

Dr Nagalakshmi Choudhury is the Chairperson of the Karnataka Women’s Commission, Mamatha Hegde is the State Cashew Development Board, Shantha Naik as State Skills Development Board and Vinod K Asuti as the State Sports Authority as its vice president.

It may be recalled that the Chief Minister had issued orders for making appointments of 34 MLAs to different Boards and Corporations on January 26 as part of the plans to keep all the MLAs, who could not be accommodated in the Cabinet and also keep the party workers happy.

All the appointments are seen as part of the Siddaramaiah regime’s attempts to keep the Congress MLAs and leaders and party workers in a good mood ahead of the Lok Sabha polls, which the ruling party is keen on winning at least 20 out the 28 seats in the State as against the lone seat it had won in 2019.
