Kaup: Car rams into parked lorry, driver dies

Kaup, Feb 29: A car rammed into a parked lorry killing the car driver on Wednesday night in Pangala.

The deceased is identified as Nagesh Kamath (70), a resident of Bharat Nagar. He was using his car on contract basis for Kaup Mescom. Nagesh had dropped the Kaup Mescom AEE home and was on his way towards Kaup.

The front portion of the car was completely damaged in the mishap. The highway traffic was disrupted for some time due to the accident.

The locals rushed to help and struggled to pull out the driver who was trapped inside the car. The driver was pulled out using an iron rod and brought to the hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

Kaup SI Abdul Khader, crime SI Purushottam and police and highway patrol visited the spot.

A case has been registered at Kaup police station.

Nagesh is survived by his wife, son and daughter. He had hired his own vehicle to Mescom on a lease basis and had himself been serving as a driver for Mescom officials for many years.
