Udupi: Social worker conducts final rites of Russian tourist

Udupi, Feb 28: Social worker Nithyanand Volakadu conducted the final rites of Alexander (73), a Russian tourist who passed away in Murudeshwar due to sudden cardiac arrest on February 22.

The mortal remains were kept in the mortuary of a private hospital in Manipal. The family members of the deceased were informed about the incident. But due to unavoidable circumstances, the family members were unable to come to receive the mortal remains. On request of the deceased’s daughter, the mortal remains of Alexander were cremated at the Beedinagudde cemetery.

Murdeshwar police sub inspector Shivakumar S R, police personnel Murali M Nayak, Vijay Nayak, Manju Madivala, Viaks Shetty, Vishu were present during the ceremony.

Earlier, Nithyananda Volakdu had conducted the cremation of a Sri Lankan national in Udupi.
