Udupi: Public should follow road safety rules without fail - Dr Krishna Prasad

Media Release

Udupi, Feb 20: "Motorists should get their eyes checked on time and cooperate in preventing road accidents," said Dr K Krishnaprasad, chairman of Prasad Netralaya Super Speciality Eye Hospital.

He made the statement while inaugurating the national road safety event organized by the district administration and Regional Transport Department, Udupi, at the Regional Transport Office hall of the city on Monday.

"In recent days, the cases of road accidents are increasing, and we are witnessing the suffering of the families of those who have died or been injured in accidents," he noted.

Presiding over the programme, regional transport officer P Ravishankar emphasized that drivers should keep to the left side of the roads, avoid moving in the opposite direction, and refrain from using mobile phones while driving. He stressed that the public must adhere to road safety rules for a safer driving experience.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Vijayendra emphasized the importance of regular vehicle inspections due to heavy traffic on the roads. He urged drivers to keep their vehicles in good condition, follow road safety rules, and avoid falling victim to the temporary pleasures of alcohol, gutka, and paan, which can contribute to road accidents.

A short film on road safety was screened during the event. Road safety manuals were distributed to the public, and prizes were awarded to school children who won the art competition organized on road safety. Prasad Netralaya Super Speciality Eye Hospital conducted a free eye check-up camp.

Senior journalist Bhaskar Rao Petri, office superintendent Pamita, Dr Atul, Dr Vijesh, and others were present at the programme.

Shantaraju welcomed the attendees, and Santhosh Shetty, Senior Motor Vehicle Inspector, compered the event. Shisudhanshu proposed the vote of thanks.
