32 Prisoners Flee Mexican Jail

Mexico City, Sep 20 (IANS): At least 32 prisoners escaped from three jails in the Mexican state of Veracruz Monday, Xinhua reported.

According to the state's interior minister Gerardo Buganza, 14 prisoners were re-captured later in the day but the exact number of the jailbreakers was still being ascertained.

Preliminary reports indicate the jailbreaks occurred in the early hours after the prisoners overpowered the guards and forced them to open the gates, said Buganza
