Davangere, Feb 3: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has promised to get any complaints regarding delays by officials in passing bills of contractors for works executed for Nagarothana project investigated.

Speaking to media persons at the Davangere helipad on Saturday, he promised to get the complaints of contractors that officials were unnecessarily delaying passing of bills for works carried out for Nagarothana project in 10 districts.

Answering questions from reporters, he said the list of candidates for the Lok Sabha polls from the Congress party will be finalized as soon as possible. Survey work in all constituencies on the candidates and assessments are being carried out.

The opinions of local leaders, MLAs and MPs as well as other party leaders will be taken into consideration before finalizing the names as there are more aspirants from each of the 28 Lok Sabha constituencies, he said.

Bharat Ratna should be conferred on Siddaganga Seer

The chief minister said the Congress party has not objected to senior BJP leader L K Advani being chosen by the Narendra Modi regime for conferring Bharat Ratna award.

“Let them give the Bharat Ratna to Advani if the government wants. The State Government has requested the centre that the Bharat Ratna to be conferred posthumously on Siddaganga Mutt’s late Swamiji Siddagangaswamy, as the 103-year-old seer was revered by all as the Nadedaduva Devaru (walking god),” he added.

He said there is also a demand that the Bharat Ratna should be conferred posthumously on late chief minister D Devaraj Urs, who was instrumental in implementing the revolutionary Land Reforms Act and also for promoting downtrodden sections.
