Mangaluru: MSNIM organizes talk on 'Understanding the Indian Judicial System'

Mangaluru, Jan 30: The Manel Srinivas Nayak Institute of Management (MSNIM) organized a talk on “Understanding the Indian Judicial System” by Justice M Karpaga Vinayagam, former chief justice of the high court of Jharkhand, as part of its popular MSN Knowledge Series on Monday, January 29, at 10:30 am at the institute campus at Bondel, Mangaluru.

Justice M Karpaga Vinayagam is also the past chairman of the Appellate Tribunal for Electricity and is presently practicing before the supreme court of India as a senior advocate. His tenure as a judge was marked by several landmark judgments, and he has the credit of delivering the highest number of judgments regarding humanism in the Indian judiciary. On completion of 50 years of judicial service, he was felicitated with an honorary doctorate by Bharath Virtual University. Nearly 150 students and other invitees from the industry and academia attended the programme.


The MSN Knowledge Series is a platform for excellent academic talks to disseminate knowledge in various fields, which would be of keen interest and high utility for students and citizens. It is named after the institution’s founder president, late Manel Srinivas Nayak.

Justice Karpaga Vinayagam inspired students with his wisdom, emphasizing the importance of continuous self-improvement and the profound impact that individuals can have on society. “Embrace a life of peace and purpose, touching the lives of others through meaningful contributions,” he said. His words carried the weight of experience as he shared insights on leading a purposeful life and the transformative power of a spiritually inclined mindset. The address further delved into anecdotes and experiences, providing valuable lessons to instill a sense of justice and responsibility in the younger generation. The knowledge series left an indelible mark on attendees, with the message of leading a purposeful life, belief in God, and contributing to society resonating profoundly. This fostered a spirit of values, discipline, and responsibility among the students.

Manel Annappa Nayak, president of the Women’s National Education Society (WNES), presided. The institute correspondent Jeevandas Narayan (former managing director, State Bank of Travancore and presently additional independent director, Karnataka Bank Ltd.), Ajith Kamath, member, WNES and the Institute director Dr Molly S Chaudhuri were present. Supreme Court advocate Muthu Kumar and advocates Vinayak Kamath, Prashantha K and Varalaxmi Shet of the Mangaluru based law firm VKR legally were also present.

Archana Kamath, faculty coordinator, gave the welcome address and introduced the speaker. Dr Deepa V, faculty, proposed a vote of thanks. Anushree, MBA second year student, compered the programme.
