Moodbidri: Blood Donation organised in memory of late Greshion Rodrigues

Moodbidri, Jan 27: The Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) Moodbidri unit on the occasion of its golden jubilee, in collaboration with Red Drop Mangaluru, Rotary Club of Moodbidri Temple Town, Jain Medical Centre, and Beautiful Lengths organised a blood donation camp in loving memory of late Greshion Rodrigues at Jain Medical Centre Moodbidri on January 26. 

The event was presided over by Fr Onil D'Souza, the parish priest of Corpus Christi Church Moodbidri. Dignitaries present included rotarian Robert Ronald Fernandes, president, Rotary Club of Moodbidri Temple Town, Dr Mahaveer Jain, managing director, Jain Medical Centre; Leo Rodrigues, father of late Greshion Rodrigues, Vincent Mascarenhas, convenor, Golden Jubilee Committee ICYM Moodbidri, and Reuben Serrao, president, ICYM Moodbidri.

The gathering was welcomed by Reuben Serrao, and the event began with the invocation of God's blessings by Anisha Noronha and Lenisha Xavier. The camp was inaugurated with the lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries.

Dr Mahaveer Jain highlighted the importance of frequent blood donations in India, expressing gratitude to ICYM Moodbidri for organizing the camp. Rotarian Robert Ronald Fernandes encouraged active participation, emphasizing that the value of blood is truly felt when someone is in need.

Fr Onil D'Souza, in his presidential speech, appreciated all the organizations collaborating for the camp and wished for the success of the event.

Galvin Pinto, secretary ICYM Moodbidri unit, proposed the vote of thanks. The programme was compered by Divita Fernandes.

A total of 62 volunteers donated blood, and 15 individuals voluntarily donated their hair for the noble cause.
