Mangaluru, Jan 27: Carmel School's 75th Republic Day celebrations by students of grade 5 A and B under the guidance of their mentors Kausalya and Amitha on January 26, were a resounding success, embodying the school's unwavering commitment to tradition, patriotism, and academic excellence.

The presence of Sr Smitha AC, joint secretary of St Ann’s campus institutions, added an air of prestige to the occasion, transforming it into a grand ceremonial celebration. The festivities commenced with a dignified guard of honour and the melodic tunes of the school band, setting a solemn atmosphere that paved the way for the unfurling of the flag—a poignant symbol of national pride.

 

Aadya J's eloquent welcome speech and Khathija Nazra's insightful commentary on the significance of the day added layers of warmth and historical context to the program. Dr Sr Prem DSouza, the school administrator, delivered a thought-provoking address, emphasizing the importance of democratic values and responsibility, while also issuing a clarion call for a clean and developed India. The emotional crescendo was reached with Zia Zainaba's heartfelt vote of thanks, leaving an indelible impression on the collective memory of Carmel School.

Additionally, to mark the celebration of Republic Day, various competitions such as declamation, elocution, character portrayal and fancy dress were conducted, witnessing commendable participation.
The festivities continued in the school auditorium, where Havildar Varghese Skaria, renowned for his illustrious military career and current service in the Karnataka State Police Department, graced the event as the chief guest.

The program, led by the students of class VA and VB, featured a solemn Prayer Service and a mesmerizing Welcome Dance that infused the celebration with a reflective and inclusive tone. Aadya J's Welcome Speech not only greeted the audience but also underscored the historical and constitutional importance of Republic Day. The skit and video presentation took the audience on a captivating journey through India's constitutional history, engaging them in a narrative that resonated with the spirit of the occasion.

The Patriotic Dances and soul-stirring Patriotic Songs showcased the students' talents in expressing love for the nation, while the prize distribution for the Christmas Day competition added a festive touch, celebrating the creative achievements of the students.

Varghese Skaria's insightful speech emphasized the paramount importance of fostering unity and upholding self-governing values. Pranay P Salian's vote of thanks brought the celebration to a close acknowledging the collective efforts that made the event possible and leaving a lasting impression on all in attendance.
