Bengaluru: Alliance University celebrates Republic Day with pledge for zero Hunger

Bengaluru, Jan 26: Alliance University, Bengaluru, celebrated the 75th Republic Day with a pronounced commitment to Sustainable Development Goal 2: Zero Hunger. The ceremony commenced with the hoisting of the national flag by Shaila Chebbi, advisor, pro-chancellor of Alliance University, and Niveditha Mishra, registrar of Alliance University.

The parade march by students, NSS department members, office staff, and security guards symbolized the powerful expression of unity and patriotism. Followed by a symbolic bike rally, with students and staff riding in unison through the campus, highlighting the spirit of unity and commitment to sustainable transportation practices.

The atmosphere was further enriched by a welcome dance, setting the stage for an enlightening address by Dr B Priestly Shan, pro-vice chancellor of Alliance University. Dr Shan's discourse emphasized the university's dedication to sustainability, evident in the impressive findings of a recent green audit, which showcased over 17000 trees within the campus and revealed 230 varieties of reptiles, reflecting the institution's commitment to environmental preservation.

Notably, he acknowledged the meticulous maintenance of a 2°C temperature difference, showcasing Alliance University's stride toward climate control and sustainable living. Drawing inspiration from the ‘Aazadi ka Amrit Mahotsav,’ he highlighted the institution's dedication to space technology, exemplified by the Chandrayaan mission. Toward the end of his speech, he said, “Success comes with constant and permanent efforts.”

The celebration continued with a musical performance, adding a cultural dimension to the event. The chief of NSS, in an address marked by simplicity and formality, highlighted Alliance University's commitment to SDG 2: Zero Hunger, realized through the adoption of villages as a tangible step towards community development.

The Republic Day celebration not only venerated the day the constitution of India came into effect but also echoed Alliance University's commitment to sustainable development, community welfare, and global collaboration, reaffirming its role in nurturing responsible and globally conscious citizens.
