Udupi: Adani Foundation kickstarts infrastructure development works at Tenka GP

Udupi, Jan 24: Adani Owned Adani Power Limited – Udupi TPP, which is operating thermal power plant in Yellur village, Kaup taluk, Udupi district, under the aegis of its CSR wing Adani Foundation, kickstarted the infrastructure development works by laying the foundation stone for 3 works as part of its CSR activities, in the limits of Tenka gram panchayat, Udupi district. 

The development works include concreting of fisheries road, flooring works in the premises of Sri Veerabhadra Temple and erection of structured roof for Narayana Guru Mandir auditorium. The implementation of these works was notified by Tenka gram panchayat in its annual action plan for the year 2023-23 and Adani Foundation has accorded green signal for these works under its CSR at a total project cost of Rs 15.50 lac. Bhoomi Pooja was formally performed by Kishore Alva, president and executive director of Adani Group and Kasturi Praveen, vice-president of Tenka gram panchayat in presence of members and villagers Tenka GP. 

Based on the demand by the villagers to Tenka GP to develop fisheries road, erection of roof to Narayana Guru Mandir auditorium and flooring works at Sri Veerabhadra temple, the Tenka GP has conveyed a general meeting and submitted a Kriya Yojana (Action plan) to Adani Foundation to consider concreting the above kachcha road in the present FY 2023-24. Accordingly, Adani Foundation has considered taking up these works under its CSR at an estimated cost of Rs 15 lacs, Kishore Alva said on the occasion. Further he informed that as against the committed CSR Grant for Infrastructure Development works of Rs 2.56 crore in Tenka Village, so far Adani Foundation has taken-up the works worth Rs 1.62 crore in addition to the other social development works under education, health and promotion of rural sports. 

He further informed that that after Adani took over the UPCL project, Adani Foundation is spending on average Rs 5 crores every year for the last 8 years for various development works for the benefit of the society as a part its CSR programme in the field of education, health, promotion of rural sports and community infrastructure in the surrounding villages of Udupi TPP. In the total annual budget, nearly 45% is being spent towards infrastructure development works, followed by health and educational initiatives. Alva expressed happiness that the surrounding gram panchayats are providing blueprint to Adani Foundation for the works to be developed in their respective gram panchayats, by way of annual action plan and because of which the implementation by Adani Foundation is getting smoothened. 

The Tenka gram panchayat vice president and members present on the occasion, thanked Adani Foundation for extending the CSR benefits to Tenka villages and applauded the initiatives taken under Education and Health development for the overall development of the society. 

Surekha, secretary of Tenka GP, Deepak Yermal, Balachandra, members of GP, David D’Souza, contractor, Ravi R Jere, AGM of Adani Power Limited and Anudeep, executive from Adani Foundation, were present during the foundation laying programme.
