Mangaluru, Jan 23: In a demonstration of solidarity and condemnation, Congress leaders from Dakshina Kannada district held a protest at Clock Tower, Mangaluru, on Tuesday, January 23, in response to the recent attack on Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Nyaay Yatra in Assam.

The protest was organized to address the alarming situation in Assam, where goons affiliated with the BJP attacked Rahul Gandhi's rally, attempting to disrupt it by blocking the routes of buses and causing trouble to the participants.

Kodijial Ibrahim, former district president, addressed the crowd expressing concern about attempts to disrupt the rally and emphasized the need to put an end to communal politics. He stated, "We have come together today to strengthen India, prevent BJP's Gunda Raj, and support the Constitution."

Sharlet Pinto, president of the Mahila Congress, criticized the BJP's negative attitude towards Rahul Gandhi's rallies, stating, "The BJP is afraid of Rahul Gandhi, and today, all of India stands with him. We want to show our support for his commitment to uniting the whole country."

Lukman Bantwal, president of the District Youth Congress, warned the BJP against obstructing truth and justice rallies, emphasizing that each drop makes its way to Congress just as it does to the ocean.

Rakshith Shivram, KPCC general secretary, criticized the BJP's actions and questioned their vision of Ram Rajya, asking if this was the BJP's vision where opposition leaders are denied access to temples. He emphasized that every village in India supports Rahul Gandhi, and the Congress will back him at rallies regardless of any disturbances.

Mithun Rai, another Congress leader, expressed disappointment with the blockage of the Bharat Jodo Nyaay Yatra in Assam, stating that it was an attempt to silence the people's voice. He conveyed a warning to the BJP, indicating that more protests would take place in all districts of Karnataka.

Prominent leaders Praveen Alva, Prakash Salian, Sohan Alva, and all members of the Dakshina Kannada Congress Unit participated in the protest.
