Bantwal: Boy drowns in river while playing with neighbourhood children

Bantwal, Jan 19: A boy who went to play at the banks of river Netravati along with his neighbourhood children drowned in the river at Nekkilaru near Koodibailu of Navoor village on the evening of Thursday.

The Deceased boy is identified as Prajwal Nayak (14), son of Puttanna Nayak local resident. It is said that Prajwal went to play near the river bank along with five other children. He accidentally slipped while playing and fell into the river. Though his friends tried to rescue Prajwal, they could not save him as the river is quite deep at the spot where he fell.

Prajwal was studying in eighth standard in Bantwal school. He is the younger of the two children of Puttanna Nayak. His elder sister studies in college.

Bantwal rural police have registered a case in this connection.
