Mangaluru: Yenepoya Dental College conducts road safety awareness programme

Mangaluru, Jan 13: The department of oral and maxillofacial Surgery, Yenepoya Dental College in association with NSS unit I and Mulya Pravaha Vibhaga conducted a road safety awareness programme on January 13 outside the university premises.

The programme is an initiative of the association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons of India (AOMSI).

The programme commenced with a flash mob by the post-graduate students and interns to attract the crowd. Head of the department of oral and maxillofacial Dr Jagadishchandra welcomed the gathering.

The chief guest Geetha D Kulkarni, assistant commissioner of police, addressed the gathering and stressed the importance of following road safety measures. Principal of Yenepoya Dental College Dr Laxmikanth Chatra in his presidential address suggested that road safety measures should be introduced in the curriculum for students.

This was followed by a street play by the post-graduate students of the department of oral and maxillofacial surgery and a mime by the interns. Dr Ramya proposed the vote of thanks. Dr Ramya and Dr Varsha Upadya compered the event.

A rally was organized from the college premises up to Kutthar and back during which pamphlets regarding road safety were distributed to the general public.
