Udupi: Sriniketana Premier volleyball League 2023 inaugurated

Udupi, Dec 27: The inauguration of Sriniketana Premier Volleyball League 2023 was held at the Matapadi School ground here.The event is held in memory of Lalitha B Hegde.

The first-ever floodlit volleyball tournament Sriniketana Cup was held for the development of Sriniketana School in association with Matapadi Brahmavara, local bodies and alumni and in memory of Late Shivaram, Brahmavar, Galimane Nadoor as part of the birth centenary celebration.

M Chandrashekar Kalkura, BSNL retired manager, inaugurated the event. In his inaugural address he said, “It is important that everyone participates in  sports. Young people should participate in sports and make achievements. Players by maintaining discipline can lead healthy lives. Participating is more important than winning.”

Ashok Kumar Shetty, retired principal, Sriniketana School, Harikrishna Holla, retired principal, Raviraj Shetty, retired faculty, Mohammad Mustaq and Suhas poojary, students, were felicitated on the occasion.

Praveen Hegde, principal, Srinikethan High School welcomed. Sharon Sequeira proposed the vote of thanks. Chetan Poojary compered the event.

A volleyball match was held between Brahmavar zone invited teams and the local franchise teams.

Girish Chandra Acharya, Chittari Nandikeshwara Temple, Mahesh Shetty, president, Brahmavar Sports Club, Vishwanath Shetty, Neelavara Temple management committee member, Rajaram Shetty, president, Late Shivaram Shetty Birth Centenary Committee, Sudhakar Shetty, principal, Shabir Hussain, Prabhakar Acharya, Chandrashekhar Nairy, Ashok Poojary, Santhosh Lewis, Suresh Karkera, Prashanth Nilavara, Bharat Naik, Ravindra Naik, Masood Rahman, Manoj Naik, Pavitra Poojary and others were present.
