Mangaluru: St Ann’s College of Education holds ‘Christmas Milan 2023’

Mangaluru, Dec 22: St Ann’s College of Education celebrated Christmas with the students of St Ann’s Higher Primary School on December 22.

Under the patronage of principal Dr Sr Dorothy D'Souza and graced by the chief guests, Fr Ivan D’Souza, head, Chair of Christianity, Mangalore University, Swami Raghuramananda, Ramakrishna Math, Mangaluru, Abdul Khader Kukkila, editor, Sanmarga newspaper and Channel, the day turned into a promising one with joy of sharing and caring.

The programme commenced by invoking the divine blessings of the creator. Dr Sr Dorothy D'Souza AC, the principal introduced and accorded a warm welcome to the chief guests. They were welcomed with flower samplings.

Sr Nishmitha highlighted the significance of the day. Christmas is celebrated to remember the birth of Jesus Christ and to inspire the spirit of sharing, caring and rejoicing with one another. Birth of Jesus Christ was portrayed through a meaningful tableau.

Chief guest Abdul Khader Kukkila, in his message, highlighted the importance of celebrating festivals and how festivals unite people. He also stressed the need of renewing one's spirit and extending relationships with one another.

Swami Raghuramananda addressed the gathering on the need of celebrating festivals in school. "Education teaches those values which are not found in the text books. It teaches solidarity, tolerance, respects and the like," he said.

Fr Ivan D’Souza, in his message, gave the glimpse of Christmas saying that Christmas spreads peace to one another by giving place to others in people's life. He also highlighted upon how Jesus brought peace to the people of good will.

The B Ed students rocked the stage with their melodious voices and rhythmic steps. Seeing the joy of students of higher primary was a treat to watch. The programme concluded with the presenting of greeting card with a message to the staff and students of St Ann’s Higher Primary School. Saraswati proposed a vote of thanks. The event was compered by Tejaswani and Spoorthi. Vilma D'Souza, assistant professor and Swathi, assistant professor coordinated the programme.
