1,300 Homes Destroyed in Texas Wildfire


Washington, Sep 9 (IANS): Over 1,300 houses were destroyed in a wildfire in the US state of Texas, Xinhua reported Thursday.

The fire, which have been raging for three days in Bastrop county, has destroyed some 1,386 homes. About 30 percent of the blaze have been contained Thursday, officials said.

At least two people were killed and some 5,000 were evacuated.

Wildfires fanned by dry air, high winds and severe drought, destroyed some 3.5 million acres of land in Texas this year.
