Udupi, Dec 21: Annual sports meet was organized recently at SMS English Medium School (CBSE). The event began with an attractive inter-squad march past parade and hoisting of the school flag symbolizing unity and oneness, followed by the invocation of God's blessings.

The sports meet began with lighting the sports lamp by the athletes representing the endeavour and struggle for victory. The chief guest of the opening ceremony, Nityhanand B R, president of Varamballi gram panchayat, encouraged the students with his words of sportsmanship.The lamp of excellence was lit by the torch bearers. An attractive display by the students followed the ceremonial welcome depicting a gesture of gratitude to the tribute of ISRO to the success of Chandrayaan -3.

The valedictory programme of the sports meet began with a prayer.

Padmavati, taluk physical education officer, Brahmavar, chief guest of valedictory programme, shared her valuable insights with the gathering stating that an all-rounder is possible only with physical activities. Fr M C Mathai, in his presidential note encouraged the students with his words of wisdom. The achievers were awarded prizes in various events.

The opening ceremony was compered by Poornima B Suvarna. Molly Mathew, the section head of the primary section, welcomed the gathering in the valedictory programme. Shameem compered the valedictory programme.
