Udupi, Dec 7: “Modern digital media cannot be ignored as it is taking shape as the media of the future. However, control of excessive glorification and sensationalism of news and reports in them needs to be controlled,” said journalist Rahim Ujire.

He was delivering a lecture on digital journalism in the 'Matina Mantapa' programme held by journalism division students of MGM College. “Digital media is becoming very popular these days. Readers of newspapers and those watching TV channels are showing inclination towards digital media. On the other hand, digital media is glorifying the personal matters of people, sometimes indulging in propaganda and losing people's trust. Control of such news is necessary,” he opined.

Head of the department of journalism, Suchith Kotian presided over the programme. Prof Manosh was present. First year student of journalism, Lakshmi compered the programme.
