Obama's Speechwriter Leaves for Hollywood

New York, Sep 3 (IANS/RIA Novosti): A speechwriter for US President Barack Obama is quitting the White House to move to Hollywood and take up TV comedies, the Washington Post said Friday.

"It's always been a dream of mine to write comedy and be creative," 29-year-old Jon Lovett told the Post. "I would like to be able to write in my own voice."

Lovett said his departure was not connected with the current shakeup in the US administration ahead of the 2012 presidential elections.

Lovett wrote a great deal of speeches for Obama, including the ones on the financial reform. The newspaper said Lovett was one of the most talented and wittiest people on the presidential team.

But the Post added that very few Washington officials had successful Hollywood careers. One of the lucky ones is Eli Attie, a former chief speechwriter for Vice President Al Gore who became a well selling writer and scriptwriter for the Doctor House series.
