Union Ministers Make Assets Public: PM Worth Rs 5 Crore

New Delhi, Sep 3: Crorepati ministers of the UPA government, including the Prime Minister himself, on Saturday September 3 made public their personal assets on the offficial website of the government.

It turns out that urban development minister Kamal Nath, with assets worth a whopping Rs 263 crore, is the richest, while defense minister A K Antony, with just Rs 1.8 lac and Rs 30 lac belonging to his wife, is the poorest of the lot.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is worth Rs 5 crore, and owns a Maruti 800, it is learnt.

The declaration by the PM, which ran into three pages, included land, property, as well as cash and bank balances, amounting to an estimated Rs.5.1 crore ($1.3 million). Deposits in banks amount to Rs 3.3 crore ($733,000).

He has property worth Rs 1.8 crore and bank deposits amount to Rs 3.2 crore.

His residential house in Chandigarh is valued the most at Rs 90 lac in terms of present market rate, followed by one at Vasant Kunj in New Delhi valued at Rs 88.67 lac. His car is worth only about Rs 25,000.

Interestingly, the PM has neither shares nor much of jewellery. His gold assets are worth only Rs 2.75 lac.

Home minister declared assets worth Rs 11 crore, apart from Rs 12.8 crore in his wife's name. Finance minister Pranab Mukherjee has assets worth Rs 1.8 crore.

External affairs minister S M Krishna's assets stood at Rs 22 lac, while his wife's assets are around 21 lac.

Petroleum minister Murli Deora and his wife have combined assets worth Rs 15.2. Agriculture minister Sharad Pawar has assets worth Rs 12 crore.

    Recently in a TV interview Mr. Chidambaram stated that ever since he joined full time politics, his family is run on his wife's income - and he is 11 crores worth. Sharad Pawar is only 12 crores worth? SM Krishna is not even a crorepathi? you must be joking. Kamal Nath who heads a big construction firm cannaot hide his fortune any way.
    I would be keen to buy PM's residence for 1 crore up from d 88 lacs in the posh Vasantkunj area of Delhi! I can easily make 100% profit in a week time like Swan Telecom did!

    Mr.A.K. Antony one of the best Minister's is known as Mr. CLEAN.That is why Mrs. sonia Gandhi has kept him as her right hand with her full trust even when she left for her treatment.

    Mr. A. K. Antony is eligible for
    a national award for his self-less
    service in the national politics.
    I read years back, his wife was
    scolded if she made more than two
    dishes with rice. Indeed, he is a
    true Gandhian with a very simple
    lifestyle and zero desire
    to get rich through politics.
