Now, Prashant Bhushan of Team Anna Gets Notice

Daijiworld Media Network

New Delhi, Sep, 3: One after another Team Anna member is being pulled up by the government. After a privilege notice on Kiran Bedi and IT notice to Arvind Kejriwal, it is now the turn of lawyer Prashant Bhushan to be slapped with a breach of privilege notice.

On Saturday September 3, a day after Kejriwal was served with an IT notice telling him to pay dues of Rs 9 lac, Bhushan said that he was slammed a notice for making allegations against MPs that they take bribes to pass laws.

Bhushan also said that he had been told to reply by September 14.

Not to be bogged down, Bhushan said that the notice was unjustified and said that he had only spoken the truth in public which does not amoung to breach of privilege.

"If speaking truth in public interest amounts to breach of privilege, then time has come for the country to review the whole notion of Parliamentary privileges," he said.

Earlier Bedi who had receieved a similar notice for her remarks against parliamentarians said that she did not regret her statements and that she would not apologise.

"The truth has to be said. I didn't have any other option as we didn't know whether we would have a resolution," she had said.

Mr. Arvind Kejriwal, who was working in Income Tax Dept had gone on study leave granted by his employers after signing a bond with certain conditions mutually agreed. Later on he sent his resignation but it was not accepted as he had not fulfilled the service conditions. However, one thing is clear from his own statement given below, which also appeared in Daijiworld on Sept. 2, that he had not cleared his dues while resigning:
"I have not violated any rule. In 2006, when I had resigned from the service, I had written to the government to deduct my dues from my general provident fund (GPF),"
It is very strange that Mr. Kejriwal, an IIT kharagpur graduate with several years of experience in Income Tax Dept doesn’t know that any employer of private sector or public sector cannot touch employee’s deposited provident fund ! Here he is just fooling the ignorant public. Now, he says Govt has to pay him Rs. 5 lacs. Why he kept quiet for 5 years. He could have very well gone to labour court to claim his money.
One of the comments in this column is that Kejriwal had donated Rs.30-lacs to good cause. From where this 30 lac amount came? He has an NGO called Kabir. There are reports that this NGO and similar other NGOs regularly receive huge amount of money from abroad. Why Anna's team doesn't want to include NGOs in Janlokpal Bill?

Mr Raghava Mayya,Padil Mangalore,Do you want to say if some body donates some thing, not necessarily required to follow rule of land? What is the asset of Baba Bhooshan and Jr Bhoshan? How many hundred crore.....What is the charge of their service for an hour?lakh or multi lakhs? How could both son and father become members of Janlokpal Drafting Committee..If these Bhoshan duos who are considered to be very expensive SC advocates did illegal or any unlawful deeds they are deserved to be taken in task by appropriate authorities. If any unknown reasons they think they were just targeted or personal vendetta then there is court of law and I firmly believe that no citizens either deprived of or above law....The law will take it's own course and it is universal truth.

Before knowing the antecedents about report of Kejriwal, many adverse comments appeared in DW 'comments' column. The other side of story was that Kejriwal had donated Rs.30-lacks to good cause and also that Govt.held his Rs.5-lakh GPF money for years. I now await their comments on this report of Lawyer Bhushan receiving Govt.notice.
