Udupi: Diocese level super six tournament ‘SMG Trophy 2023’ held at Hirgan

Udupi, Nov 22: Under the leadership of Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) Hirgana, Udupi diocese level super six tournament ‘SMG Trophy 2023’ was held in grand style at Hirgan Church ground, on November 19. A total of 32 teams from different parishes of Udupi diocese participated in the tournament.

Santhosh, former president of Hirgana Gram Panchayat and PTA president of St Maria Goretti English Medium School inaugurated the programme. The programme was presided over by parish priest Fr John Walter Mendonca, parish council representatives, supervisor of FMM convent Sr Brigith Madtha, and officials from ICYM Karkala deanery were present.

There were 32 teams from different churches. The Byndoor church team won the winners’ trophy and Shankarpur team got the runners trophy.

The tournament's conclusion was graced by the presence of distinguished personalities including Diocesan youth director Fr Steevan Fernandes, Karkala deanery director Fr Larry Pinto, parish priest Fr John Walter Mendonca, diocesan president Ashley D’Souza, unit animator Zina D'Silva, president Gration D'Souza and secretary Ashualb D'Souza were present. 

Elson Hirgan compered the programme. The programme ended with the singing of the ICYM anthem.
