Kundapur: Protest in front of govt hospital over death of newborn – DC, SP visit spot

Kundapur, Nov 21: The protest urging the suspension of doctor alleging negligence during child birth and subsequent death of the newborn continued on Tuesday also.

Superintendent of police (SP) Arun Kumar and deputy commissioner (DC) Vidyakumari visited the spot and tried to pacify the protesters on the morning of Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, DC Vidyakumari said, “A team of expert doctors will be formed to probe the allegation against the doctor and take suitable action.”

SP Arun Kumar said, “We have to work within the limits of the law. We will have comprehensive investigation into the matter and take action.”

Local leader Dinesh Hegde Molahalli said, “I will hold discussion with district in-charge minister about the allegations that are raised against the government hospital of Kundapur and take action within a week.”

Yashraj, president of traditional boat fishermen association, said, “One week’s time is given to the administration to take suitable action. If the same is not done, then we will take further step.”

Hundreds of protesters are part of the protest from Monday night.
