'Manglurkar' restaurant serving authentic local cuisine, inaugurated in Manipal

Udupi, Nov 20: “Manglurkar,”  a Mangalorean magic restaurant serving mouth watering local cuisine was inaugurated on Monday, November 20 at ground floor of Vaibhav Business centre here in Manipal.

The “Manglurkar” is aimed at serving the authentic world famous Mangalorean cuisine to to Manipalites. Dr Jerry Vincent Dias, managing director, Mandavi Real Estate and Developers inaugurated the new restaurant.

Fr Romeo Lewis, parish priest, Christ The King Church, Manipal blessed the restaurant and conducted the prayer service.

Speaking on the occasion, Yashpal Suvarna, Udupi MLA, said, “Udupi – Manipal is growing in a rapid manner. More than 25,000 students are studying in Manipal alone. This new restaurant will be an ideal option for these students to savour the new delicacies. The name of the restaurant is also very apt. Udupi hotels are known for the world likewise today Mangaluru cuisine has begun to serve the Udupians."

Participating as a chief guest and wishing the best for the new venture, Pramod Madhwaraj, former MLA, Udupi, said, “Udupi is known for its cuisine all over the world. Every corner of the world has Udupi hotels. Its a new concept for this area. Aspirations and taste of the people has been understood and arrangements have been made for serving the delicious cuisine by initiating “Manglurkar” restaurant. Best quality, reasonable rates and good service are the key concepts for any restaurant to succeed.”

Dr Jerry Vincent Dias, managing director, Mandavi Real Estate Developers, speaking on the occasion, said, “I have a close association with the restaurant industry as i worked with it in my early days. Running a hotel business is not an easy job. This is a proud moment as we mark the beginning of first of its kind Mangaluru cuisine restaurant by Terence Suvares. Dolphy Mascharenhas is also helping in this business which is appreciable. There is no scarcity for customers in Manipal but, everyone expects good food. Terence Suvares is a hard worker, I wish him more success and prosperity".

Fr Romeo Lewis, wishing prosperity to the restaurant, said, “Restaurants are meant to satisfy our hunger. We go in search of good restaurants to satisfy our hunger. I wish gracious blessings of Lord Almighty on this new venture. Even I was awed to see the name of the restaurant, but it is very much apt for the food it is serving here. “Manglurkar” will rebrand our traditional Mangalorean cuisine.”

Purushottam Shetty, Ujwal Group, Udupi, Dolphy Mascarenhas, managing director of Hot Chix restaurant, promoters of “Manglurkar” restaurant Margaret Suvares and Terence Suvares were present on the occasion.

Terence Suvares, promoter, “Manglurkar” restaurant proposed a vote of thanks. Jenisha Jernis compered the program.

“Manglurkar” restaurant will serve the authentic pork roast, pork pepper, chicken kebab in the starters, pork bafat, pork chilli, pork coorghi, chicken jalfrezi, dal manglurkar, pulao rice, boiled rice, sannas and appam in the main course. The restaurant also has meal combo of pork baffat/pork chilly combo, pulao rice meal combo and boiled rice mean combo.
