50th screening of movie 'Osmitay' held by Konkan Ghar in Riyadh

Riyadh, Nov 12: The much-awaited movie screening of “Osmitay”, yet another successful journey of “Mandd Sobhann” by the contribution of unique insights and brilliant works of art by Eric Ozer and his passionate team, was held in Durrah Isthirah in Riyadh on November 3.

“Sansar sarasar Konkani bhas urtheli”, yes, Konkan Ghar Riyadh with the great vision of founder Eric D'Sa Pangla and his team of talented artistes, showcased the movie in Riyadh.

Konkani people in and around Riyadh were eagerly waiting to watch this movie and their wishes were granted by the organisers, giving the most cozy theatre experience. Whistling and clapping throughout the movie showed the excitement and energy. A great soundtrack, unique insights of original content, outstanding work by every artiste, and brilliant cinematography were the highlights of this movie that was far too addictive to learn the bitter truth of inconsequential moments.

The program was well curated with an insightful introduction and whole program compering by Jasmine Menezes.

The president of KGR Mr Ralph D’Souza, delivered a valuable and meaningful welcome speech. KGR Gurkar who has kept alive Konkani values & traditions by providing relentless support in every way possible, increased viewers' interests by fostering a sense of unity and pride among them with his motivational keynote. A brief stage program was conducted with lamp lighting and prayerful wishes to bring more such initiatives to the community. The lamp lighting was first done by founder couple Eric and Anitha D'Sa, followed by this the main sponsor Kevin Meural Nazareth couple. The third lamp lighting was done by KGR president Ralph D’Souza and secretary Asha Vas, followed by Vijay D'Sa and Everest D'Souza. The fifth lamp was lit by Austin Menezes and Stany Cardoza.

Gratitude was offered to Kevin Meural Nazareth couple.

The movie screening was also supported by the co-sponsors, Saudi Konkan Youngsters (SKY DAMAM), and Victor Lasrado (Al Waha group), Everest D’Souza and Stany Cardoza. Vijay D'Sa from Damam and his team of Khobar Damam friends (KDR) were present in large numbers as movie viewers and showed their valuable
support for the event, with whistles during the stage functions and movie screening.

The highlight of the screening of “Osmitay” was that it was an opportunity to celebrate Karnataka Rajyotsava, commemorating the existence of Karnataka with great respect and love.

KGR event was enriched with talented singers like Eric and Anitha D'Sa, Ralph and Sony D’Souza, Darrel D’Souza, Austin and Jasmine Menezes and Sunitha Menezes. The crowed participated in the rendition of the the most soulful song, “Ide naadu, Ide bhoomi endendu nammadagirali."

The viewers had a thrilling experience as the movie flowed along the river Saraswathi while a twist of romance also kept the film interesting. Serving snacks & looking after viewers' comfort did make them feel the five start Dolby theatre experience.

KGR cultural secretary, Sony D’Souza delivered an impactful thanksgiving speech. Interviewing most of the viewers to understand their experience was conducted by Asha Vas. Through these interviews, it sounded like everyone had a very positive opinion and they were very thankful
for this opportunity.

A sumptuous & delicious dinner was served at the end by Almas catering team in Riyadh. Everybody had a hearty chat, bringing back the old memories of the motherland.

Antakshari of Konkani songs and Baila dance was held at the end of this successful program.
