No Regret about Anti-politician Remarks: Kiran Bedi

New Delhi, Aug 28 : Former IPS officer Kiran Bedi, a prominent member of Team Anna who was instrumental in organising Anna Hazare's fast movement at Ramlila, has said that she has no regrets about making comments against politicians on the Ramlila stage.

Her mockery of politicians as being double-faced had received widespread criticism from political circles and some section of the media. But her supporters have defended her action.

"Indeed, it was not meant to defame or hurt anyone, but it came spontaneously as an outburst against politicians who were not supporting the Jan Lokpal bill until that moment,"she told NDTV in an interview.

"I was only expressing the voice of those thousands of people. I have the greatest respect for the parliament," Bedi said.

Two prominent MPs of BJP Ananth Kumar and Gopinath Munde had come to Ramlila on that day, but were booed by the crowd, and insulted by Kiran Bedi on the stage. Even they had been addressed as 'Chor..Chor'. Both MPs complained about this incident to senior BJP leader L K Advani.

"In the evening, I got a call from Advaniji, I said sir, we have been left alone, even you have betrayed us... You did not raise our voice in the parliament,  who will listen to us. And he said 'beti', it will happen in parliament tomorrow,” Bedi said.

"Next day in parliament, Advani opened his statement by saying Hazare's health is our top priority, in the evening when I saw Advani in the Prime Minister's Office, I knew a miracle was happening."

Kiran Bedi in fact feels that her act had helped in getting Anna's fast issue resolved to some extent. It had caught Advani's attention, and next day he spoke in support of Anna Hazare.

Kiran Bedi has reiterated that politicians are double-faced.

“It was double-faced throughout, I went to all the meetings,” she said, adding that the government representatives said something in the first meeting and something else in the second.

To give out expression to pentup feelings of self and also the crowd,at that
crucial stage, what Kiran Bedi did is fully understandable. However she being an important member of Team Anna ,which has its own code of conduct,it calls for just "I am sorry",period.Nothing more, nothing less

    Well Done Bedi-
U had hit them where it HURTS more- otherwise they wouldn't have taken any action, as inaction in Parliament is thought as their SUPREME Birth Right, after encashing their Salaries & emoluments from our taxes.
If it wasn't for U & Kejrival they would've slep like KumbhKarn for another 20 years with the Bill.
People are SUPREME not Parliamentarians who deceive us.
