Engineer Kills Wife, Three Others, Self

Jaipur, Aug 28 (IANS): A 32-year-old engineer Sunday gunned down his wife and three relatives at his in-laws' house before shooting himself dead two hours later in Rajasthan's Tonk district, police said.

Pradeep Jain, armed with two pistols and a knife, barged into his in-laws' house around 9.30 a.m in Devali town of the district, some 100 km from state capital Jaipur.

"He shot dead his wife Suman, two brothers-in-laws, Sanjay and Lokesh, and Lokesh's wife Ankita," said a police officer.

After the shooting spree at his in-laws' home, Pradeep went to his sister's house about 500 metre away and addressed a huge crowd and media persons for two hours from the balcony.

He alleged that he had been harassed and false criminal cases had been slapped on him by his wife and in-laws which had forced him to commit the crime. He said he had filed for divorce and wanted the custody of his four-year-old son.

"He remained on the balcony for two hours before shooting himself on the forehead," the officer said.

"Pradeep worked as an engineer with a fertilizer firm in Kota," he said.

At his sister's house, about 2,000 people gathered to see him. Police tried to arrest him, but he kept flaunting his gun.
