Minor boy kidnapped for ransom in Bihar, found dead


Patna, Oct 13 (IANS): A 14-year-old boy, who was kidnapped for ransom, was found dead in Bihar’s Bettiah city on Friday, police said.

The victim, Aashish Kumar, was the son of a prominent jeweller, Nagnarayan Shah, resident of Rani Rampurva locality under Kumarbagh police station in the city.

According to the police, the family received a call on Wednesday demanding a Rs 20 lakh ransom.

The boy's body was found at a pond located behind a steel plant.

Aashish, a student of class 9, had gone to school on Wednesday morning, but did not return home.

During preliminary investigation it was found that some students spotted him jumping from the wall of the Kumarbagh high school.

Besides demanding the ransom, the callers are also threatened the family with dire consequence if they approached the police.

Despite that, the family lodged a complaint and police officers has detained some of the students of his school for questioning.

The body was recovered by district SP Amarkesh D and other senior officers.

No arrests have been made yet.
