Apologise, Anna Supporters Tell Sahay

Ranchi, Aug 22 (IANS): Anna Hazare's supporters here Monday demonstrated outside the home of union Tourism Minister Subodh Kant Sahay, seeking the Ranchi MP's apology for terming the social activist mad.

Hundreds of youths wearing Gandhi caps gathered outside Sahay's house situated in the Heavy Engineering Corporation (HEC) campus in Ranchi. The Anna supporters first offered roses at the photographs of Sahay.

They held banners thatb read, "Subodh samajdhar hai, hum sab pagal hai (Subodh is wise, we all are mad)".

After Anna's arrest Aug 16, Sahay told reporters, "Anna was arrested due to his madness. How can the government allow a person to fast for an indefinite period of time?"

Sahay is not in Ranchi.

"Subodh Kant Sahay should publicly apologies for terming Anna mad. We will sit on demonstration till Sahay apologises and agrees to vote in favour of Anna's Jan Lokpal bill," said Kriti, one of the Anna supporters.

In scam-hit Jharkhand, support for Hazare is swelling. Jharkhand is a place where scores of scams have taken place. The Anna movement is now being witnessed in rural parts of the state as well.

People came in support of the demonstration from Murhu, Mandar and other villages of Ranchi district.

In the city, autorickshaw drivers observed a strike for two hours to support Hazare.
