Protests Outside Sibal's Home

New Delhi, Aug 22 (IANS): Supporters of fasting activist Anna Hazare Monday staged a sit-in in front of Congress MP and union minister Kapil Sibal's house.

As Hazare asked supporters to stage protests in front of their MPs' homes, supporters, many of them from Sibal's constituency of Chandni Chowk, staged a sit-in in front of Sibal's official residence, 19, Teen Murti Marg. Sibal is the minister for human resource development and communications and IT.

Some protesters were detained by the police.

"Sibal and company are behaving like the East India Company, they have to sense the mood of the people," a supporter said.

"Over 30 people have been detained. They are in room which is not totally ventilated," he said.

Another supporter from Chandni Chowk said: "The referendum in our area showed 80 percent people supporting the Jan Lokpal bill. He is our MP, he must reflect our view."

The protesters added that more demonstrations will be staged. "We will go to house of each and every MP," said one protester.
