Mumbai, Aug 22 (IANS): Indian equities markets Monday opened on a quiet note amid dull cues from other Asian markets.
The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), which opened at 16,155.99 points, was ruling 16,135.99 points -- down 5.68 points or 0.04 percent compared to its previous close at 16,141.67 points.
The 50-scrip S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange was also trading lacklustre, 0.08 percent down at 4,842 points.
Broader markets too were quiet. The market breadth at the BSE was mixed with 784 stocks moving up, compared to 618 on the decline and 59 remaining unchanged.
