Kerala CPI(M) asks state JD(S) unit to tell its stand post latter's national leadership joined NDA

Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 30 (IANS): With the Congress party in Kerala breathing down on the ruling CPI(M), the latter has served an ultimatum to the state unit of the JD (S) to announce its position after its national leadership joined the BJP-led NDA.

The Kerala unit of the JD (S) has two legislators -- State Electricity Minister K.Krishnankutty and former State Minister Mathew T.Thomas.

Since the time the national leadership announced their decision to be an ally of the NDA, the Congress, especially Leader of Opposition V. D. Satheesan accused Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan of pleasing the BJP, saying "it was evident when the Kerala unit of CPI(M) expressed reservation in joining the opposition bloc INDIA".

Sateeshan went on to add thatVijayan is "scared" of BJP as he is in "neck deep in corruption" in numerous cases and due to that is not criticising the BJP.

As the attack against Vijayan increased from the Congress, the CPI(M) has asked the Kerala unit of the JD (S) to explain its future course of action, as no more time will be given to them.

Even though Krishnankutty has gone on record to say that they will never be part of the NDA, they are hoping that the national leadership of their party will allow them to take their own independent political position.

The CPI(M) has told them to announce their decision at the earliest and the JD(S) is expected to do it in a day or two.
