Mangaluru, Sep 21: Institute of Aviation Studies, Srinivas University organized the ‘Collage Making Competition’ on September 16 at their campus of the Institute of Aviation Studies, Hampankatta.
The event aimed to showcase the creative talents of participants and encourageartistic expression through the medium of collage. Participants had the freedom to explore their creativity using magazines and newspapers. The theme given for the collage making competition was women's empowerment. Some pieces depicted the journeys of remarkable women who have broken barriers in various fields, while others delved into the struggles women face daily and their unwavering determination to overcome them. Each piece of art told a unique story, invoking a sense of empathy and reflection among the attendees. The judges assessed the collage based on creativity, symbol or visual impact, and relevance to the theme.
The first-place honour was awarded to Seema K (II year BBA aviation management), Swathi (II year BBA aviation management) and Joyson D'Souza (II year BBA aviation management) from the team Poundriya. The second place went to Shraddha V K (I year BBA aviation management), Praseeja C (III year BBA aviation management), Nayana Sathyan (III year BBA aviation management) from the team Manipushpaka. The third-place was bagged by Abhishek N Kini (II year BBA aviation management), Ripsy Raju (III year BBA aviation management) and Mohammad Adil (I year BBA aviation management).
The collage making competition on the theme of women's empowerment was a testament to the power of art in conveying an important societal message. It showcased the immense talent within the artistic community and, more importantly, underscored the continued need for advocacy and action towards achieving gender equality. The student gained a sense of commitment to the cause, bolstered by the knowledge that art can be a powerful agentof change in the ongoing journey toward women's empowerment. Dr Pavithra Kumar, dean, Institute of Aviation Studies congratulated all winners and participants of the collage making competition.
