Imposter creates FB account of Goa MLA; Cyber Crime police register FIR


Panaji, Sep 19 (IANS):  Goa police have registered an FIR against an unknown person for allegedly creating a fake facebook account in the name of Goa Forward Party President and MLA Vijai Sardesai, and demanding money from friends by providing GPay number.

Durgadas Kamat, General Secretary (Org) of GFP in his complaint had stated that one imposter had created a facebook account in the name of Vijai Sardesai and was demanding money using GPay mode.

Taking cognisance of the complaint, Cyber Crime police have registered the case.

No sooner had the fake account had come to his notice, Sardesai, former deputy Chief Minister, had alerted people about it saying "An imposter has been posing as me by creating a fake Facebook account in my name, and has been

sending friend requests to various people, and is demanding money. I request you all to urgently take note of this, and I ask you not to respond to any demands."

An offense has been registered under section 66-C of Information Technology Act 2000.

Further investigation is underway.
