Mangaluru: Career guidance, counselling held for parents, students of Carmel School

Mangaluru, Aug 17: With a plethora of career options available in the contemporary times, the role of a career counselling session becomes indispensable. Keeping this view in mind, Sr Maria Gracilda A C, the principal of Carmel school, organized a career guidance and counselling program for the parents and students of grade IX and X on August 12 in the school auditorium.

The session started with a short prayer. The resource person was Dr Ananth Prabhu G, professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Sahyadri Group of Educational Institutions. Being a motivational speaker, Dr Prabhu G gave the students a brief talk on the new generation careers and opportunities they can seek for after Grade X. He also spoke about the various competitive exams and scholarship exams available in the present scenario. He guided the students on various courses in different streams, like Engineering, MBA, Law and so on. He also encouraged the students to pursue their interests and urged them to work sincerely to achieve their goals. He emphasized on SWOT (Strength, Weaknesses, Opportunity, & Threats) NIRF (National institution Ranking Framework), NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling). Queries raised by the students and parents were answered by him. Overall, the session was inspiring and envisioned the knowledge of the students.

 

The parents and students of Grade IX and X found the session very effective and enlightening. The programme was compered by Avren D'Souza. Deepthi R Pethaje welcomed the gathering. Vote of thanks was proposed by Uvel Fernandes.
