Bihar Stocks RSS Books in Government Schools, Says JD-U rebel

Patna, Jul 31 (IANS): The Bihar government led by Nitish Kumar, utilising government funds for school libraries, purchased books propagating the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) ideology a rebel Janata Dal-United (JD-U) leader alleged Sunday.

"It is dangerous and alarming because these books only teach hatred," said Upendra Kushwaha, convenor of the Bihar Nav Nirman Manch, a new political outfit floated by JD-U rebels.

Books like the biography of RSS founder Keshav Baliram Hedgewar, 'Hinduvta' and 'Godhra-The Missing Rage' were bought for middle level government schools, Kushwaha said in a press conference.

"It stunned me that self-proclaimed secular Nitish Kumar...is helping the RSS to reach out to students," said Kushwaha, whom the JD-U suspended from the Rajya Sabha.

"We demand that the state government immediately withdraw these books," he said.

Nitish was bowing down to the RSS for running his government with support of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Kushwaha said.
