CBI Questions Shinde in Adarsh Scam

New Delhi, Jul 31 (IANS): Union Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde is being questioned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in Mumbai's Adarsh Housing Society scam, sources said Sunday.

Shinde was the Maharashtra chief minister when the files related to the high-rise apartment block were being processed.

According to reports, Shinde had accepted a proposal sent by Ashok Chavan, the then revenue minister, recommending that 40 percent of flats should be given to non-army people in the building, which was originally for the kin of 1999 Kargil war martyrs.

A CBI team from Mumbai came to Delhi Saturday night to question Shinde.

Union minister and former Maharashtra chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh is also likely to be questioned by the investigative agency.
