American Wins Puerto Rico Eating Contest

San Juan, Jul 31 (IANS/EFE): An American man ate 53 tacos - a traditional dish - in a record time of 10 minutes to win an eating contest in Puerto Rico.

Joey "Jaws" Chestnut won the contest held by the Major League Eating organisation.

He defeated fellow Americans Timothy Janus and Matt Stonie - who ate 48 tacos each - in the capital city of San Juan.

The winner took home a cash prize of $5,000.

Chestnut had earlier won a hot dog eating contest in July in the US.
