Eight Die in Kashmir Accident


Srinagar, Jul 30 (IANS): Eight passengers were killed and 32 were injured when a bus fell into a stream in Jammu and Kashmir Saturday, police said.

The bus rolled into the Lidder stream at Laganbal, 78 kilometres from here as it was approaching Pahalgam hill station in south Kashmir, witnesses told IANS on the phone.

"A massive relief and rescue operation has been started by the police and other wings of the local administration," Shafqat Ahmad Watali, deputy inspector general of police, told IANS.

All the dead and injured passengers are locals, he added.
