Mallya Says Controvercial Ad Will Not Go Off Air

Mumbai, Jul 19: UB group chairman Vijay Mallya said that the United Spirits Ltd will not take the controversial advertisement featuring Dhoni off air.

Off-spinner Harbhajan Singh's legal team had slapped a notice against the liquor major for spoofing the Indian cricketer in a McDowell's No.1 commercial featuring M S Dhoni.

Mallya said that his legal team would recommend the next course of action. However USL's rival Pernod Ricard said that it had not advised Harbhajan to make the legal move but will surely support him.

Mallya added that the advertisement was not mean to cause any offense to Harbhajan Singh personally. He said that it was just a spoof between the two brands. Referring to the several television programmes that spoof politicians, he asked, "What will happen if all of them start sending legal notices?".
