Udupi, Jun 5: The district BJP unit held a protest on Monday June 5 against the state Congress government.

Kuilady Suresh Nayak, Udupi district BJP president said, “Before the election they distributed their guarantee cards to each house. They said free electricity of 200 units and now they have increased the tariff by 51 paisa per unit. Free bus rides for women, but now only in government buses. Rs 2000 scheme only if remain unemployed for 6 months. They came to power only by fooling people. Within 15 days they have shown their true colours. Minister M B Patil said that if the BJP gives out any statement against the state government, they will be arrested. This shows their Hitler type attitude. The BJP will always stand with the people. Chief minister Siddaramaiah should feel ashamed of himself for choosing ministers who support slaughtering sacred animals. If anyone raise issue about hijab, they are warned that they will be arrested. We hereby warn that if the Congress government increase prices for different items to collect money and fulfil their five guarantees, people will raise voice against you and we will always stand with them.”

Uday Kumar Shetty, BJP in-charge Mangaluru divison said, “We never thought that we will protest against the government so early. After election, they are changing their words. They are imposing conditions on all five guarantees that they promised. Now the people are aware of all their false promises. If an election takes place now, there will be complete changes in the pre-poll report. No Congress members distributed guarantee cards, as people knew them. The guarantee cards were distributed by agencies. The Cattle Preservation Act, 1964 was brought by the Congress party in 1964, but now they are against it, only to attack the BJP. They brought disturbances between religions and came to power. Rahul Gandhi said that all five guarantees will be issued in first cabinet meeting, but now he is silent. As free bus rides for women is limited to only some buses, I request all members of the Mahila Morcha to protest before all the Congress offices. Today, we are protesting before the BJP office only to bring awareness among people. We demand that all the five guarantees should be rolled-out without any conditions and if they nullify the Cattle Preservation Act, 1964, we will protest against them.”

Udupi district BJP president Suprasad Shetty, deputy president Bannanje Ravi Amin, secretary Guru prasad, Sathynand Atrady, Udupi Mahila Morcha president Veena S Shetty, BJP Udupi district secretary Amitha Shridar and Nalini Pradeep, SC Morcha secretary Dinakar Babu and others were present.
