Man held for killing neighbour while saving sister

New Delhi, July 15 (IANS) A 25-year-old man was arrested in north Delhi for killing his neighbour who was trying to drag away his sister, police said Friday.

"Rajesh was arrested from his house at Hari Enclave of Aman Vihar area Thursday night after he killed a 35-year-old Ram Sewak," said a senior police officer.

During investigation, police found that Ram Sewak, a scrap dealer, was furious at Rajesh after his wife ran away a week ago and blamed him. "Ram Sewak used to beat his wife regularly and sometime Rajesh used to intervene and console his wife. Ram Sewak had an impression that Rajesh was having an affair with his wife," said the officer.

"Ram Sewak went to Rajesh's house Thursday night, grabbed his sister and was forcibly taking her away. Rajesh tried to free his sister but Ram Sewak told Rajesh he would keep his sister till Rajesh brought back his wife."

Rajesh then hit Ram Sewak with iron rod on his head and legs. Ram Sewak collapsed and was taken to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him dead, said the officer.

Police have registered a case and are investigating.
