Mangaluru: St Joseph the Worker Church, Neermarga bids farewell to Fr Anil Canute D'Mello

Mangaluru, May 22: On May 15 parishioners of St Joseph the Worker Church, Neermarga, gathered in the parish premise on the occasion of bidding farewell to the parish priest Fr Anil Canute D’Mello, who has been transferred to Mogarnad parish.

Fr Joseph Mascarenhas, parish priest, Kelarai conducted the prayer service. Fr Anil, addressed the parishioners. He spoke of all those things that had touched his heart in Neermarga parish. Fr Anil, after blessing the parishioners, embarked on his journey to Mogarnad with a tearful adieu.

Mogarnad outgoing parish priest, Fr Paul Pinto, Vitla Varado Vicar vara Fr Ivan Rodrigues, Mother of God School headmaster Fr Kiran Pinto, parish pastoral council vice president Santhosh D'Souza, secretary Wilfred Lobo, along with parishioners, welcomed Fr Anil D'Mello with floral bouquet and garland.

Fr Anil, under the auspices of bishop's representative Fr Ivan Rodrigues, Vicar vara, Vitla Varado assumed responsibility of his new parish then renewed the vows of the holy catholic church while lighting the candles held by the members of parish pastoral council. Fr Anil, new parish priest expressed his feelings in accordance with reading from Holy scriptures.

Following the charge handover observance, the parish pastoral council, vice president Santhosh D’Souza, welcomed the new parish priest and the accompanying parishioners of Neermarga. Over 400 Neermarga parishioners were present. He then gave a brief introduction of the Mogarnad parish.

Fr Ivan Rodrigues, Vicar vara, in his message, wished all the very best to both the priests. Guest priest Fr Roshan Crasta, Fr Joseph Mascarenhus, Fr Roque DCunha, Fr Victor Misquith graced the service.

Rita Fernandes conducted the programme, refreshments were served to all.
