Mangaluru: Neermarga church welcomes new parish priest

Mangaluru, May 22: On May 16, a welcoming programme was held for Fr Paul Pinto, former parish priest, Mother of God Church, Mogarnad, who has been appointed new parish priest of St Joseph the worker's church, Neermarga.

He was accompanied by Dev Matha English medium school headmaster Fr Kiran Pinto, Mogarnad PPC vice president Santhosh D’Souza, 21 Commisions coordinator, Emilian D'Cunha and the parishioners.

 

At 4 pm, a gathering comprising Fr James D'Souza, Vicar vara,  city varado, outgoing parish priest, Fr Anil Canute D'Mello, parish pastoral council, vice president, Francis Gonsalves, secretary, Zita Usha Fernandes, coordinator of 21 commisions, Maurice Renjal, and the parishioners lovingly welcomed the new parish priest Fr Paul Pinto by garlanding him at the Church portico.

Fr James D'Souza oversaw the charge handover protocol. The new parish priest renewed the vows of the holy catholic church while lighting the candles held by the members of parish pastoral council. New parish priest expressed his feelings in accordance with reading from holy scriptures.

Following the charge handover observance, the parish pastoral council, vice president Francis Gonsalves, welcomed the new parish priest and the accompanying parishioners of Mogarnad.

Fr Anil Canute D’Mello, outgoing parish priest of St Joseph the Worker Church,  gave a brief introduction of   Neemarga parish. Fr James D'Souza, Vicar vaar, City Varado, in his message, wished all the very best to both the priests.

PPC secretary Zita Usha Fernandes, in her gratitude note, thanked Fr Anil Canute D’Mello, for his relentless service towards the development of the parish with regard to spiritual as well as outstanding administration of the total church activities. She proposed the vote of thanks to each one gathered for their respective service and presence. Joel Pereira conducted the programme, refreshments were served to all.
