Udupi: Five tipper lorries involved in illegal sand mining seized

Udupi, May 20: Sandhya, scientist of mining of geology department raided the hideout of illegal sand mining at Hattiangadi and Hemmadi vicinity, Vandse Hobali on Friday night and seized five tipper lorries in connection with sand mining.

The raids were conducted under the guidance of department senior scientist Sandeep G U on the basis of complaints received from people. Out of five lorries, four were seized at Hattikudur at about 10 pm and one lorry with sand was seized at Kannadakudu at 1 am after midnight.

A press release from the department of mining and geology stated that four lorries are parked at Kundapur rural police station and one lorry has been parked at Kundapur police station for further legal action.
