Four Earthquakes Hit Philippines


Manila, Jul 12 (IANS): Four earthquakes with magnitudes ranging from 5 to 6.2 on the Richter Scale hit Philippines early Tuesday, Xinhua reported.

The tremblors hit Philippines' Negros Occidental province, with the latest taking place at 6.49 a.m. local time with depth of 33.9 km from the ground surface.

The strongest quake occurred at 4.47 a.m. Tuesday at 83 km west of Cauayan City in Negro Occidental province in central Philippines.

The other two quakes measured at 5.5 and 5.7 magnitude shortly after 5 a.m. Tuesday. No casualties were reported.
