Mangaluru, May 8: "The BJP is not a party to be trusted," said former MLC Ivan D'Souza.

Addressing the media here on Monday, May 8 he said, "The BJP’s double-engine administration has only one engine operating. ‘Na Khaunga, Na Khane Dunga' slogan of Prime Minister Narendra Modi have been a failure. They failed to provide seats for 20% of the population, which also caused the Sabaka Saath Sabaka Vikaas to fail. The PM has never addressed the farmers’ issues on the Mann Ki Baat programme."

He said, "The BJP's manifesto promises to give free cooking gas cylinders to the BPL families on three special occasions each year: Ugadi, Ganesh Chaturthi, and Diwali. But why is it not provided for other festivals like Eid al-Fitr or Christmas? This shows that they are in favour of a community.”

“The BJP has never acted in the interests of the common man. Vedavyas Kamath, a failed MLA, has put forward numerous questions that he has never addressed. As many as 15 years were taken to complete the construction of Pumpwell flyover. What will the future hold for our state? J R Lobo worked on the creation of Urwa market. However once the BJP ruled, no changes were made to the market,” he claimed.

"The Congress promises are well accepted in the state. We are working to make the economy stable in the society. The circumstance we encountered in 2013 will recur this year. The Congress must assume power in order to fulfil the desires of the people for peace and development in the state," he said.
